Replace “even” and “odd” with your own words — for instance the parents' first names for shared custody. The setting stays in this browser, nothing is sent.

How is an even week counted?

Parity follows from the week number as defined by the ISO 8601 standard: a number divisible by two makes an even week, otherwise it is odd. The week runs Monday to Sunday.

Two subtleties deserve attention when organising shared custody. First, a week belongs to the year of its Thursday: 31 December therefore regularly lands in week 1 of the following year. Second, so-called long years have 53 weeks, and since week 53 is odd just like the week 1 that follows it, two odd weeks run back to back.
